Lot 124 Percussion .44 Plains Rifle
Percussion that looks to be converted by a local blacksmith. Shows it has been used with the short barrel., it was likely carried on horseback. Heavy octagon would allow for a heavy charge powder, providing greater range for buffalo hunting. Has opening in trigger guard for a set trigger plus repairs have been made with parts from other rifles. Just a common rifle use during the 1840 to 1870 era. No visible serial number.
